ReachOut now provides support via text (as well as online in the Forums which are accessible 24/7). We have 2 new text programs: Weekly TXT-boost sends uplifting and inspirational texts to your phone each week and ReachOut TXT is a peer-to-peer information and support text message service available Mondays and Tuesdays from 4-8pm PT.
More about ReachOut TXT?
ReachOut TXT gives you easy and immediate access to peer support and information via your cell phone when you're going through a tough time.
How do I get support?
Just text 'REACHOUT' to 877 877 on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4-8pm PT.
What would I TXT?
You can text us for all types of reasons; from relationship struggles, depression, family problems, bullying, self-harm, problems at school, drugs and alcohol etc. No matter what your issue, big or small, trained, non-judgmental peer volunteers care, and are only a text away.
What can I expect?
After texting 'REACHOUT' to 877 877 you'll receive a text asking for your zipcode, email, name & date of birth. After you reply with that info, you'll get a confirmation text from ReachOut and then a TXT supporter will begin a TXT conversation with you.
What if I want support and the ReachOut TXT isn’t open?
The ReachOut forums are open 24/7 where you can register and receive peer support anytime. If you want to talk with a trained counselor, contact BoysTown on 800-448-3000.
Who are the peer volunteers?
The peer volunteers are professionally trained Bay Area youth (16-24 years) who are always supervised during ReachOut TXT. Peer volunteers have lived experience with tough times and are very welcoming and open to listening to whatever is on your mind.
Is this confidential?
Is ReachOut TXT a counseling or crisis service?
