One more lonely girl
My name is Emma. I’m just your “average” eighth-grader… or that’s what everyone thought.
When I was 13, I battled depression. Many people go through that time in their life when they think no one cares or that they have no one. I took that to the next level, though.
I was never really a popular girl. In fact, I was quite the opposite. I always wanted to be popular, but never could figure out how.
I had a few friends, but I never thought they cared about me, and I was right. After a five-year friendship, they finally left me. They bullied me for a little while, but now they can’t even look at me in the hallways.
When I go home no one talks to me. They’re afraid I would blow up in their face or something. I started thinking I was a horrible person and almost took my life.
Not long after all that, I made friends with this girl, Eve, who felt the exact same way I did. We helped each other through our difficult time and became best friends forever. Four years later we’re still friends and couldn’t be happier.
My message to all of you is that it does get better. Find someone who understands you or will listen to you. It’s not worth it to make yourself sad and lonely. Be happy.
