The Boys Town National Hotline Call 1-800-448-3000
Sometimes advice from your friends just isn’t enough. We all have times and issues when it is important to talk with someone who has experience in helping people work through their problems, or someone who’s outside the situation.
If you’re in need of someone to talk to, trained staff can speak with you through the Boys Town National Hotline at 1-800-448-3000. Although this hotline is sponsored by Boys Town, the service is for males and females. The hotline has someone available 24 hours a day seven days a week. They take calls from all 50 states, Guam, Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Canada. It’s free and it’s confidential unless the person who takes your call believes you’re at risk of hurting yourself or others. You can call to vent or just “get it out” about a number of issues, including:
- Girlfriend or boyfriend problems;
- Bullying at school;
- Peer pressure to take drugs or alcohol;
- Difficulty with school;
- Not getting along with family members;
- Feeling depressed or lonely;
- Dealing with physical abuse at home;
- Uncontrollable anger;
- Thinking of hurting yourself;
- Worries about possibly being pregnant;
- Having thoughts of suicide;
- Not getting along with parents;
- Parental fighting.
In addition to the telephone hotline, Boys Town also has an information and support website especially for teens and young adults, www.yourlifeyourvoice.org, with online email & live chat support available. Your Life Your Voice encourages youth to channel their feelings and concerns in a positive way and provides a opportunity for them to share their art, poetry, photos and other means of self-expression. It’s also is a place where teens can ask questions and get the answers they need to the challenges they face every day.
